Other benefits of the credit card include an earning rate of 3x points on Southwest flights, a TSA PreCheck or Global Entry fee credit, four upgraded boardings per year, and the ability to earn A-list tier credits. In order to provide the best experience, we block access to certain high-bandwidth applications, websites, and video conferencing services, including, but not limited to, Netflix, HBO Max, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. Instead, you could have this (and much more) for a single $199 annual fee per year. Sit back, relax, and enjoy Inflight Entertainment & Connectivity 1 Internet access for 8 a day, per device. Assuming you fly Southwest four times per month for work and purchase WiFi each time, you’re spending $384 per year to stay connected. Thankfully this upgrade will extend to its entire fleet, with 50 aircraft expected to receive updates by the end of May, along with an end of year target of 350 aircraft. Southwest has also begun the process of upgrading its fleet to significantly improve Wi-Fi speeds, with a potential speed bump 10 times that of what is being offered now. The upside is that MAXs are being used on many of its longer haul routes, including all of its west coast/Hawaii routes.

Their -700s are slowly being retired in favor of MAXs, but it will be quite a while before the entire fleet reaches full MAX status. There are no screens built into the seats on Southwest planes.

TV and movies are free, but you do need to bring your own device to watch. Inflight beverage service is temporarily suspended on flights 250 miles or less.
As of publication, the bulk of Southwest’s fleet still consists of NGs (453 737-700s and 207 737-800s). Wifi for internet access is not free and each person that wants to use it on a device needs to pay for it. 3 Due to licensing restrictions, on WiFi-enabled international flights Free Live TV and iHeartRadio may not be available for the full duration of flight. Unfortunately its fleet of 737NGs (737-800s and -700s) will not receive the same treatment, so if you’re looking for power on longer flights, you better hope the route is MAX operated.
